The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The intense universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to create a tabletop RPG that explores the franchise’s post-pandemic setting. This initiative has been announced, with a funding drive planned to begin in the spring of 2026.

"This project will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the table, providing fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an official release.

Initial offerings will include a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and various deluxe editions.

Exploring The Division's Dystopian World

In this setting, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the United States into chaos. As the pandemic worsens, society crumbles and hostile groups rise, transforming the urban landscape into a battlefield. To restore law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. That’s where the agents come in.

Work on the RPG has been underway for about three years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a pre-launch sales platform to access a wider audience, specifically in the United States. Manufacturing will start immediately following the fundraiser, with shipping projected for later in 2026.

A Streamlined Tactical System: The GRIS System

An early look at the system reveals it employs d10s exclusively through its new GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and tactical style. Agents leverage skills or traits to assemble small dice pools, typically between one and five d10s.

  • Rather than summing the total, players select a single “result die” from the group.
  • This die is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Rolling a natural 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as extra damage or boosted support.

Engagements Focus On Positioning and Awareness

Fights prioritize positioning and environmental awareness, reflecting the video games. Factors like cover, height advantage, or line of sight have a direct impact dice rolls. This mechanic seems built to favor coordination and clever tactics over simple statistics.

A Novel Wound System

The way health is tracked adds a compelling thematic twist. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their capabilities by decreasing the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an operative collapses, but they’re not knocked out.
  2. They may still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the last stand seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any agent knocked down must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like shock or crippling injuries.

An Introductory Scenario

A free Quickstart Guide is promised soon. It includes a ready-to-play starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, players lead the search for a lost doctor squad and work to stop an attack by the violent Rikers faction, who have seized control of that Manhattan district. More specifics and the full range of offerings are expected to be unveiled near the campaign launch.
